sizing images

How is it everytime I place an image on the website none of them can be sized equally. I have put my images in the gallery, but they are all different sizes and where is the best place to put the css code to change how the image is viewed and what size?
Please use same size of square images for photo gallery.
You can also use NextGEN gallery plugin to display photo gallery in your website
