Make Gallery Thumbnails smaller and no coloured border?

Hi Is it possible to make the Gallery thumbnails smaller and without the coloured top and bottom border? Also, the actual thumbnail images are zoomed in a little too much for mobile view?
The coloured border and unusually large sizing only seems to occur when the short code is added to a page with text on. If it’s added to a blank page the border disappears and the sizing is better?
