Dancing Star Pro: Homepage Slider

My homepage slider seems not to be working like the demo. The demo slider transitions smoothly – image + text go together then both disappear as it transitions to the next slide. In mine, the slider has the image + text appear together, the text disappears and then the image sits there for a moment before it transitions to the next one. While the text disappears, there seems to be a broken something (image or something) that appears in the upper left as the image remains but text disappears.
I also uninstalled and reinstalled the pro template and it didn’t change the situation. Please advise.

Grace ThemsIt looks like the homepage slider is not compatible with the Smush plugin. Is there anything in the Smush settings I can do to make both work? Thanks.
