I need to change the size of the pictures, or remove the pictures at all, on the Main Page in the Latest News Section. I found a way to remove the picture, but I do have an open space then.

You can use any size of image for setting featured image of blog post.

To remove the featured image from Latest News section in homepage
Go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Basic Settings -> Custom CSS
add below css code

.news-box .news-thumb { display: none; }

Hi hisachu,

To display images of blog post in latest news section, you need to set Featured Image for posts
– Just edit your post and set Featured Image from right side panel
