menu in footer of sports lite theme

HI,
I installed the sports light and for some reason get the menu also in the footer, although it is not installed as a widget. I do not see any setting to remove or enable it, actually in the ‘footer menu’ option in customization menu, the dropdown box is even empty.
How can I remove this footer menu ?
