I have a website that is a live eCommerce website. I would like to duplicate the website to a development site. Install a Grace Theme, customize and when we have it like we want it, export the theme from the development site and import it into the live site as a deactivated them. Then activate, probably in very early hours, check website to see if everything is as we want it but if it isn’t, just activate the current ‘Shopkeeper’ theme and go back to the drawing board.

Is there a procedure where I can accomplish this?

Do you want to create the same website on your development server?

Yes. I know how to duplicate a website as I have done it dozens of times over the past 20+ years.

With a live eCommerce website I can’t replace the database as orders are being taken daily.

Grace Themes uses ‘default’ content for its Themes and I don’t want those default settings to override any that I might replace on the development site when I migrate the theme back to the live site.

Also, I would like a tutorial on migration of the theme from the development site to the live site. I couldn’t find on on your website.

You will need to manually change the Theme Options Settings from one website to the another website.

    Seriously?

Isn’t there workaround process to copy the settings for the theme from a development site to a live site?

This is a serious omission for Grace Themes. Website developers duplicate websites to create new design looks so it does not impact the live site. When the new design is ready to go live, they simply copy/replace the theme files on the live site, export/import theme database records, then activate the theme so the new design is live.

When you have active eCommerce websites with 24/7 sales being processed, you can’t replace the live site with the development site as sales data will be lost.

This inability has me in a tough situation with a client website.

I highly recommend that you create an export/import functionality on your Themes.

Ok, I will check it with our development team.
