aspect ratio of embedded youtube videos

Embedded blocks are not taking the aspect ratio css classes into account. As far as I could tell from wordpress support forums and github issues, this is related to a theme, that doesn't support that yet. How can embedded videos be displayed correctly? (16:9 aspect ratio) Thanks a lot, Andreas
